Buddy of mine wants to redo the suspension on his '53 3B. Anyone suggest a current supplier of quality stock height (or 1" lift max) replacemment springs?
I bought some Omix ones years ago and they flattened out with just the weight of the f-head.....wasn't impressed.
He has the "C" shackles still in place, would like to keep them if possible.
If you can help me guide him to a decent quality supplier or kit, I'd appreciate it.

There has been some discussion of General Spring here - 1945 - 1975 Jeep CJ Leaf Springs I would search for post about these springs and see if you can solicit some comments.

RockAuto lists the Dayton brand for CJ-5, but not for flat fender Jeeps. Maybe this is them - Dayton Parts, LLC The CJ-5 listings for Dayton look very similar to the listings at General Spring.

You could also try calling Deaver and Alcan and see what they can offer. Customs might be out of the budget, but they may distribute pre-made springs that they will stand behind.

There's a guy on pirate4x4 running the superlift 1" springs on his MB and he's very happy with them. Granted he used rear springs at all 4 corners and trimmed the fenders to fit 35s but still seems to like them.

Very difficult to find a replacement spring that will retain the c shackles.

What's the problem with the C shackles? Military wrap? I thought the eye diameter was the same for them or silent blocks.

The aftermarket springs usually have a smaller hole for a bushing.

Try Holbrook Specialties, makers of Longleaf Springs
