Rolling Tool Carts

I like that. I am thinking larger casters so it rolls easier.

 

I see them as just another flat surface to pile junk.

 

A clean shop is the sign of a sick mind.

 

Once you get the cart, you find its so much easier to move the tools to the worksite rather than getting up and going to the big box for every tool. If you keep it busy, it doesn't become a storage shelf

 

I like it, it looks like a good tray and has nice storage. We all know how fun it is to play where did I set that wrench again?

 

Mine's just a cheapie Harbor Freight but it works.

I had a friend stop by the other day to have me fix a pocket knife. And in the 2 dozen trips from one end of the shop to the other it was clear I need to do a bunch of clean up reorganizing as every time I turned around to move I had to get him to either back up or step to the side so I could pass. I have managed to reduce my 20 x 32 shop into a couple of intersecting paths.

 

I like your cart. I typically work in the garage, so taking tools back and forth isn't that much of an issue. It helps to use a tray to carry back and forth between the tool chest and the car, even if it's only a few feet away.

A small garage is like a boat galley. You must put things away ... the Boy Scouts taught me that lesson. Whenever we went on a campout, it always included an hour at the end to put all the gear away (our troop had a lot of gear).

Focker, if you have 2 9/16 nuts to tighten, is that 2 trips to the tool box?

 

I have two similar (cheapie) carts I've inherited over the years. One of the steel shops I got hired at required you to supply a rolling tool cart to keep all your stuff on/in. I trust no one, so I spent the evening before my first day modifying one of them to be closed-in and lockable.



I made a wood frame inside and cut some scrap steel to fit the openings. I threw a dovetailed drawer (with some leftover soft-close slides) in the top, and welded a bolt to the inside of one of the doors that inserts into a hole in the side of the drawer. The door has to be open to access the drawer. 3-way adjustable cabinet hinges got welded onto the doors. Eyehooks welded to the doors made it lockable with a padlock. Total investment : $0.00. Everything was scrap I had laying around from old jobs.

Here is my cart , built of leftover angle iron from the packaging on the 2 post lift. Got a sm465 on it waiting on me to start tearing it apart.

 

HF and one of the best purchases I"ve made. I keep my common automotive tools on it. I"m surprised at how few tools we use on a regular basis and how many other tools I have.
