Possibly, I don't know if it really counts because I already had a manual saginaw setup. But I did cut off the old bracket and fab up a new one. (y) It helps that I just finished up Steve's 71 power steering install so it was fresh in my mind.

    Are those custom hoses?

    Great work!

The steering box, hoses, and pump are all off the shelf YJ parts. The pulley is a standard GM single groove press on. The pitman arm is a 68-72 chevelle reamed out to jeep tie rod taper.
The power steering pump bracket is from a 70 Buick skylark with a 350. I paid way too much for the bracket, but it was in NOS condition and it was exactly the one I wanted.

Was the PS pump bracket from a YJ or a Buick?
    Love the tire carrier too!

I forgot that part, the pump bracket is from a 70 buick skylark with a 350. I will edit my previous post. There are many options for brackets, on Steve's 71, we used a bracket that was from an 81 buick century with a 231. It was a smog pump/ power steering pump combo bracket. I cut the smog pump portion off the top and ground the bracket to clear his HEI distributor.

Sweet! I also purchased the brackets from a 71 Skylark, bolted right up.

How did you know the hose lengths would fit? Did they dictate where you put your steering box?

The hoses are long enough to move the box forward quite a bit. I had to straighten out the steel portion of the pressure hose a bit. The return hose is just a standard piece of transmission cooler hose. I did not want to have to use any parts that are not straight off regular shelf inventory. There are two types of saginaw boxes and pumps. Earlier types have flare fittings and later types have O ring fittings. All of the YJ power steering parts are O ring fittings.

Ok, just curious. I'm using an earlier flared style. But I stretched my front frame section to fit the longer springs. I tried some OE hoses but couldn't find anything to fit correctly, so i'm going to have a custom hose made.

Did you look at hoses for a mid 90's full size chevy pickup with a 4.3 v6? The engine sits way back in the bay and the hoses are longer than a v8 model.

While I had my transfer case out for the AA intermediate shaft install and t-18 to d-18 sealing issue, I decided to tackle my speedometer output leak.
I run my transfer case about a quart over full to ensure plenty of oil gets to the overdrive. I had a major oil leak at the speedometer output, like a cup a week, which was making me crazy.
I heard through a member here about installing a 7mm valve stem seal in the speedometer output nut. I searched SB International and found a seal #122-1262.
I bored out the speedometer output nut from the outside so that the output gear would still have plenty of surface to ride on.
After about 200 miles over the weekend, I have zero oil leaks under the jeep. :)

    Pressed in.

Here is where the seal rides. Plenty of bearing surface left to support the gear.

Yes, I have about 200 mi on it.
My intermediate shaft had very little wear on it, but the AA intermediate shaft is quieter. With the standard shaft I had more grumbles and odd noises coming from the transfer case, especially on deceleration at speed with the engine holding the jeep back and no brake, compression braking. There was a loud tick tick tick on deceleration that is now gone as well.
I still have the gear whine at high speed, but it is less intense than before. Maybe a little higher pitched whine, like a whistle.
The floorboard is noticeably cooler over the transfer case. A hand temperature feel on the trans, transfer and rear diff feels like the transfer case is slightly warmer than the other two.

Nice job.sorry I didn't get back to you, been busy. Just finished the seal on the Ren. II . You did exactly as I did. Good that you posted for others to see the fix to this problem. I tried to place a sealed bearing (1207 LOE ) between trans and transfer case. No sealed bearing available per bearing shop and HERM. It is a special narrow automotive application only. Plugged the other holes in back of trans ,but it didn't help much. mike

Unless there is something special about that bearing, But I have sealed bearings 35 mm ID x 72 mm OD x 17 mm on the shelf. We use them in some of our machines.
Lots of options here. Ball Bearings | Bearings | Categories | Applied

thanks, it's back together now so I don't have the specs but I trust Herm if he sez no . At least the speedo cable isn't leaking and like you said a little extra oil for O-drive won't hurt. I will save the link and thanks again, mike

KYLE, just remembered I had some spare t14 parts so I measured that bearing. BCA 1207 LOE- id 30mm/ od 80mm/w 17mm .They ordered me in a sealed bearing like the ones you have and of course it was wrong size. They said the LOE makes it a special automotive size. that's all I know . mike

I have been using a Harbor freight ATV hitch carrier for a couple years. I use it to haul the ice chest when camping and critters when hunting. It worked good, but it was too low and drug on serious water bars or ledges. In addition to being too low, I felt like the tail lights were not visible enough when using it with the ice chest.
Here is the finished product. I raised it up about 7" over all and added the led tail lights.

Thank you Daryl. The wheels really topped it off nice...(y)

I love camping. I really hate cooking on the ground.
We all know that space is precious in in a 5, so if I am going to pack an item with me it has to be multi functional.
After hacking up my Harbor freight hitch carrier I figured why stop there when I can turn this thing into a camp stove table.
I now have a place to sit my hot coffee pot.
