Any preferences of something always there, as opposed to hauling a small compressor with you?
Since im layed up awhile, my gears are turning. Looked on pirate 4x4, man, those guys are rough on each other.

Depends what you want it for. I bought 12v inflator at Walmart for emergencies. $25. Fills a tire from flat in 6 min. They have bigger and smaller ones. Cheap and small if all you want to do is air up after you air down. Made by Green Slime. You set the pressure you want and it shuts off automatically.

I put a york AC compressor in my Willys. Works really good. Also used an air compressor pressure switch to turn it on and off. Been a year and haven't had to mess with it.

As I only need a compressor on my vehicle 5-6 times a year, I carry a portable Viair 400 series with me. No issues; decent duty cycle and air up time.
If I needed it more frequently, a hard mounted 100% duty cycle unit would get my vote.

I have a York in my 5, I also had one in my Flatty. I will always try to make room for an engine driven compressor. They can be bulky and a challenge to mount but if you ever have had a York vs whatever to do any job you need to do,you will want to take the time to have one.

This is my 225 mount system using the 3 mounting holes normally for the alternator.

If you really want air, I don't believe you can beat the 10 cid York. More than enough air to run air tools and inflate tires quickly. There should be some previous threads listing parts for those systems on here-someplace------. Relatively cheap to do if you can find a decent salvage yard compressor. But be aware that the Yorks came in 3 different displacements and you only want the largest version.

This is my latest mounting on a sbc in my 3B flat fender. It wasn't a real easy fit due to the fact that it couldn't sit entirely in front of the head. Insufficient room for the pulley system. Do you need double belts on them? No. I've run them both double and single and it made no difference.

Something else to archive maybe, Mr. Administrator man, if it isn't already. Thanks John.

I've been wanting to do this for years and haven't. Then started thinking about the Power tanks. Liked that idea but, some good points are brought up about them.

I'd say the whole thread if the link will remain permanently active. The pictures in this thread are helpful. However, if it's better to just archive the link for space on the server, maybe that's the best way to go. The more info the better, IMO but, I realize there are other issues to consider. Thanks.

You should change your name to "Johnny on the spot." You're on it, man.

I wanted to do the York thing a long time ago, and started collecting parts. My compressor came from a 76 Wagoneer, but the clutch was worn out and needed replaced. So when I started my rebuild in 99, I went with a Maltese Cross compressor, fed it to a Regulator set for 125/90 operation. From there it is stored in several tanks. I used to have two of the small tanks under the battery. (the oil Accumulator is there now) and one large tank under the rear floor board then fed to the Dash controls. I used to have air shocks front and rear that were controlled from here. When I put the lift springs on I removed the rear air shocks. But kept the front ones to help support the snow blade. but last year it bent a shock mount, so I removed the front shocks. Now the top gauge shows the main tank psi and the right one shows the accumulator

Rereading this it looks like I rambled a little .... sorry
I also put front and rear Quick disconnect air fittings, for air tool and hose usage.

I will be putting two 1 gallon Klein steel tanks in the back of my Wheel Houses in my 48 CJ2A and then getting an electric compressor (yet to be decided which) to fill them I will have air connections in the engine compartment right side Pass compartment and near my Trailer plug in the back. I also plan on having a 5 gallon tank in my off road trailer that will compliment my oba system as well as pressurize my water system in the trailer (Harbor freight regulator). I figure I have the space for the tanks and can't think of a thing else that would fit into a 6" D x 12" L space I could want jammed up under there LOL

What about using your PTO port on your dana 18, thats what I have planned to do this summer, I have all the parts other than building a mount for the York. Dana PTO unit with custom built pulley. Shift the PTO in and then let the switch cut off the clutch when the pressure is reached. Air pack tank for storage, mounted in the bed.

If you used a sanden compressor you'd have to oil it every once in awhile, add an in line oiler, or do the grease mod on it.
The Sanden SD508 is able to put out 9 cfm.

You want to look for the York 210 as suggested above.
There are three types R210 for Rotolock fittings, T210 for tube o fittings and F210 for flange fittings.

Here is a York R210 that came off an AMC 360 from a wagoneer.
