I bought this Jeep as an interesting project but I can't seem to find much info on it. Last owner had it for a few decades and used it only occasionally for hunting. I can find some info on the "Tuxedo Park" option but not on the "Camper Special" option. Apparently this Jeep came with both options. All emblems are original and the original turquoise blue paint is on every inch of the sheetmetal under one old coat of red primer. There are some odd brackets under the chrome windshield hinges, and also some weird brackets on top of the tub behind the seats. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Nice Jeep, a few Tux guys here....

Those Camper Special emblems look like the same as featured on mid to late 60's Dodge.

Can't tell from the photos, but the brackets under the hinges could be the attachment parts for the mirrors.

This looks like a legitimate Tuxedo Park from likely late 1966, but there never was a camper special model. The camper badges were added by some previous owner. Otherwise, the Jeep looks pretty solid. You are missing some of the unique Tux trim like the chrome front bumper, tailgate mounted license light, and Hall taillights. Your color looks to originally have been Sierra Blue.
CJ6 (8422 serial number) versions of the Tux are one of the more rare Jeep models.

    Wow... have to be quick.

The brackets on the top of the tub behind the seats could be for a soft top.

close ups of the brackets would help in identifying them

Rare like a dozen or two made (?), and a handful still in existence. Collectible IMO.

Check utube for cj5 camper special. In 1969 Willys Kaiser made a camper special. Very rare and only lasted one year, only 300 or so built.

The rareness of that CJ6 would only be valid if in fact it was complete and also included the camper.............short of that it's just another CJ6.

Well sorta, I am sure there are "Tux posers" that don't have the serial number. I could put all the "Tux" hardware on my CJ6, but without the Serial number it's just a dolled up CJ6....and I would be hording parts from the real Tux guys.

Thanks, all, for the replies. I thought maybe we had a one-off special edition, but even without the Camper Special designation this CJ6 Tuxedo Park seems to be pretty special on it's own.

How rare do you guys think this rig may be? How do we determine the exact year this Mark IV was built and how many were built that year?

I have a friend that inherited an early bone stock CJ5 Tuxedo Park body. He's talked about restoring but he may never get around to it. I'm fairly sure it's complete minus motor/trans. I could probably buy it for parts, but would they be interchangeable and correct?
