image.jpeg I think I know the answer but does the front shackle look right? I think the repro springs I bought are too long.

With the axle at full droop (no load), those front shackles should be close to verticle, if not bent backward slightly. With no load, they look close to horizontal forward. By the time there is the front weight applied, there is no travel.
The springs sure look too long to me.

Yeah, thanks! I'm really disappointed that I trusted the vendor's application where it said "fits front or rear". I had my doubts and should have measured the spring length to confirm.

It's almost laughable now but I had a hell of a time getting that spring bolted in there. Until I did, I thought it would fit.

39 5/8" are for intermediate cj 5 from 72 thru 75 years. The early cj are 36" ...

You sure? I believe the intermediates and earlys have the same spring length. The rears of flattys are shorter.

My original springs were roughly 40" long (center to center). The new ones (that I didn't measure upon receipt) were about 46". I have another pair on the way.

Old eyes. Looks to me like you have a set of rear springs in the front.

But then I am blind in one eye and can't see outa the other, so what would I know.
