what kind of advice can you guys offer for a fix for the advance weight anchor. hopefully you can see in the pic, that the pins are worn out pretty bad. bought new advance kit, but didn't realize the wear on the pins. forgot to say, this is an oddfire 225.

I'd be wondering how worn the shaft and bushings are, if those pins are so bad. If it has side play, time for a new distributor?

now the question of whether you want the original points/condensor, or electronic version. answers vary, and everybody has their opinion. no one system is better than the other either. get what you feel is right for you.

Any reputable ignition shop can fix that up for nothing and re-bush it. Last one I had done here was 35.00 and looked and worked like new.......gotta love the old timers that knew how to work on these things with a stash of parts

Not too many shops anywhere that will know what a distributor is any more. Count yourself lucky. Shop rates around here start about $75 an hour and go up from there.

A reman Delco for an oddfire 225 is available from RockAuto, Cardone brand, ca $90 exchange. You could look around for a local rebuilder, and when you don't find one you can order the Cardone through your local parts store.

Everybody wants to go GM HEI for these engines, but you can go electronic by converting your Delco distributor with a Pertronix kit. Or you can trigger an MSD module with points. Relieved of switching the coil, the points will last a looong time, until the fiber block on the points wears out. If the MSD module fails, you can reconnect the points and run conventionally.

Rockauto also lists an odd fire hei for a 76 Regal with a 231 which will probably outlast every one of us in an old Jeep. Most likely would never have to touch it again.
