steering question

My bell crank wobbles all over the place, I tried tightening it up but it didnt help much. Where can I get a new one? Or better yet. Can I use the column, pump and box out of a 1976 one ton chevy truck for a saginaw conversion?

 

Steering boxes out of Chevy pickups won't work, there backwards compard to cars.
Your bellcrank bearings and pin are probably wore out, you can get a rebuild kit from Wlaks or one of them, but you will need to know the size of the pin in your bellcrank.

 

Columns are about 4" longer in the full siize truck than say a cj or camaro/firebird cheerokee/wagoneer.

 

Thanks for the information. It wouldnt have worked any way. I don't think I can do a saginaw, because my winch is in the way. Does any one have a Ramsey PTO winch and saginaw? If so how in the world did you mount the box? My winch takes up the entire area between the grill/bumper/and frame. There is no room in there for anything.

Check into Herm's, his bracket places the Saginaw box behind the front cross member.You can find him at www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com I am going to receive the conversion bracket soon and will post pictures when it is installed.

 

Saw a swap one time where the guy used box off a scout he said he used that because his winch would have been in the way(pto). Later read about someone doing the same thing on 4X4wire. Basically puts box behind the grille. That 's what Herms kit does with a ford box. Looks like what I would look at.
