    image.jpg Hey all!

Question I always wanted to ask...when looking at others Jeeps it appears either my frame is shorter or my tub is longer. The back number seems to be tucked in under the tub more than others. Any thoughts?

Is that by chance on a flat fender frame? The rear cross member section looks kind of short for sure.

Sure looks like it's on a flatfender frame. The front bumper also appears to be really close to the grill for a CJ5.

It's titled as a 63 Willys CJ5. It does not have a VIN Tag and i havent tried to find the frame stamping. But maybe the PO(s) did some crazy mods like the tub and mounting.

I like flag fenders more but a 63 wouldn't be flat or I would exchange them.

Yeah I agree that's almost for sure a CJ-5 body on a flatty frame.
Sell the CJ-5 body and put a 3B body on it.
Does your particular title number specify the model or only the vintage ?
Some but not all flatty frames are stamped.

Makes more sense but I guess I need to do more research. I have been wanting and hoping to find a VIN stamp without pulling the tub.

So are you stating there is a chance this title is wrong and I could have a older rig? Flat fenders were not on 63s right?

    Title states 63 Willys CJ5

Model CJ-3B was built from 1953 to half way through 1965 in the US.

Can you post up some more picts of the frame? FWIW, my jeep is a 74 cj but it sits on a 76 frame. So yaa, they do get screwed up.

They made 3B's and 5's and 6's all at the same time, until the time Ken mentioned they quit the 3B.

Flat fenders wouldn't work on a CJ5. Flatty tubs and CJ5 tubs are very different at the front/cowl section. I can't help but wonder.... how did it get registered without a vin tag? Sure there isn't one under the hood on the drivers' side of the firewall?

No there isn't a tag anywhere. That's why I want to find the frame
stamp. It was registered 20 years ago at least then sat. The PO stated her dad built it from someone he bought all the parts from. So it's looking more like something is a miss here.

If I do find out its a 3bframe and wanted to find a tub for it, the leg room is much smaller right? What would the advantage be on switching it out?

I can't think of any advantage to it other than having a body that matched the frame. Since your title states CJ5 I think your best bet would be to try to get a reproduction id tag for the firewall.

The other advantage of a 3B is increased coolness factor, IMHO.

Yeah that was my plan but may have to think about a new body to match frame. I like the flatties but I assume getting a full body would be pricey.

If it was a early cj5 frame, then the frame should be stamped with the serial number on the passenger side, on the top of the frame, near the firewall. Like mine does
