I need to pick up a new intake and exhaust manifold for the '74. I called a local Jeep junkyard yesterday and they said they had them, but would need to know if it was for a 1bbl or 2bbl. I didn't want to remove the carb until I was ready to place it on the new intake (just to make sure everything goes back on correctly). Can anyone tell me what carb would be on a 1974 258? It's definitely a Carter - written all over it! I think the VIN for this Jeep is somewhere in the archives. I'll find it, if that will help.

    TIA!!!

The eighth digit on your vin will tell you. A or B = 258 with 1 bbl, C = 258 with 2 bbl.

Looks like the thread where I posted the VIN has been deleted (in the Garage Pics section).

    I'll just assume it's a 1bbl.

    Thanks for the info guys!!!
