I recently noticed that my transmission (t14) has started to make a howling noise in first gear on deceleration. It sounds similar to the straight cut low
Gear in my 47 Willys truck. Oil level is good and has recently been changed. Stupid question but do you think it is time for a rebuild at only 345900 miles or can I still drive it for a while. (72 with 258 and t14)

Yes. The drivetrain has been the cheapest part of the Jeep so far. It just keeps running reliably with nothing done but fluid changes. If I didn't know the previous two owners I wouldn't believe it has made 300+ thousand miles. Guess it is time for some refreshing.
