When I was cleaning up the oil filter housing i noticed what looks like a check valve cocked in the housing on the spring. I messed with it for awhile but couldn't get it right and i can't see a way to remove it. I assume since its not included in the rebuild kit its not removable ?

Can anyone tell me if this check valve is removable for cleaning and to get it working properly?

It isn't normally removeable. Its the oil filter bypass valve.

I found that mine was also crooked when changing the oil pump gasket. I was able to use a small seal pick to get it lined back up.
