    Hi all,

I'm servicing the T-14 that I have as a core currently and have come across quite a few hurdles only to run in to more!

    I need to know:
    1. What bearings are on the input/output of the shafts?
    2. What can be used in place of a posi-puller to get the bearing off the main drive gear?
    3. What rebuild suggestions or tit-bits of wisdom would you have for transmission rebuilds?

    Thanks in advance!

Re 2, you should be able to wiggle the bearing and input shaft out together. Careful coaxing by prying on the snap ring groove will help. Just don't apply enough force to break anything, and let it come out of the case evenly. Then use a press to remove and replace the bearing. Tap the input and bearing in with a long piece of pipe. All this is from memory of 30 years ago, so I'm open to correction.

If you contact Herm the Overdrive Guy, he has done sampling and testing of what bearings are good for price and longevity in these transmissions.

Advice - buy the best snap ring pliers you can find. Measure all the snap rings for thickness as they come off, and be sure to put back the same as what was there. You'll get a lot of extra parts in your small parts kit, and you don't want to use the wrong ones. Herm will also have some advice about whose roller bearings to use.

I just ordered the master rebuild kit from Novak.
They assured me they only use top quality US or Japanese bearings. When it comes in next week I will get the actual bearing numbers and post them here.

As a side the only input shafts I've been able to find for the V6 are from Omix and from what I can gather, they are made in India. It's almost painful to have to use one of those. Especially after spending the extra cash for the good rebuild kit.

    Tim,
I couldn't tell you how many times I've been wanting to get a press but have decided against it thinking that I'd only use it once per year...sorely wrong on that thought though! I took your advice and got a large pair of lock ring pliers, everything came apart with relative ease.

I emailed Herm about his experience at 7 am...yet to hear back.

    Al,

I've got the part numbers pretty well sorted after Danes help.

    Input: N307LOE
    Output: 1207LOE

I sourced a NOS - AMC bearing US made for the input. Having trouble finding the output in a brand I trust...Already ordered a 1207-LOE from Oreillys and it came with flat spots along the roller surface.

Also on a side note, Alpina, if you need an input shaft I may have an extra here in the coming days. I've got to reassemble my core here and then take out the trans. currently in the Jeep. When I put it in all of the gears were solid and that input shaft looked like it had little to no wear (20k on it, unless the PO rolled the odometer over )

    Cheers,
    Hayden

Glad you got the Numbers. I was actually suprised when I pulled my original trans. Apart and there were no numbers on the bearings.

Have somebody from here says they're going to look and see if they have a shaft. If not I'll still be needing one.
    Thanks, Ken
