Hey Chris, sorry it took me a while to get back to you. I didn't see your reply until just now. We just bought 16ga steel sheets and made our own panels. We knew we were going to be rhino lining the inside so it didn't have to be the best looking floor. We picked 16ga steel instead of 18 so it would be stronger also.

2 days ago I finally got the insurance through Grundy. Getting "collector" car insurance isn't as quick as getting regar insurance I learned but the savings was worth the wait. Took the JEEP today to get registered and it's officially legal. Took it out to the downtown district of my little hometown to celebrate with the wife. Before she got off work I drove around for probably 2 hours with the biggest grin on my face. No problems with the engine overheating or any other issues with was good. Drove it to ACE hardware to pick up some bolts for it, felt good to actually drive the jeep to buy stuff for it. It drives great and no problems cruising around 55. I took back roads mostly but ended up on the highways once or twice. Got some small things on the way from walcks, lots of little cosmetic things. Very close!

    Out on the town

I hope you don't mind me borrowing your pic here for a second.

Did you use any seam sealer here on this area where the windshield frame support meets the the cowl? And if so what did you use.

I did not use any seam sealer, there were some very large gaps on the other side also. When the inside of the cab was sprayed with rhino lining, it was sealed pretty good. Enough for me anyways...

Wow, this looks like its really coming along. I purchased a '70 CJ5 a couple of years back and am just getting into the meat of it. I wish I had the resources to pull the tub off and start at the frame, but maybe in the future.

    Looking good!

Just saw this. Thanks! Good luck with your 70, start a build thread if you haven't already. It's nice to go back in time every once in a while.

It's been a while since I have posted anything in the thread. Things havent stopped but everything I am doing now doesn't change anything that noticeably or isn't going to be any kind of useful information. Thought I should throw an update out though.

Since getting it registered I have gotten my spare painted, tire mounted and its on the tire carrier now, along with my high lift. Got my wife who is more patient than I to paint the stamped JEEP and WILLYS logos. Mounted the winch(maybe that's an old one) but i now have a remote and everything is functional. Did a lot of "learning", tuning the carbarautor via try this and see what it does. The engine is now running much better after I got the hang of what I was doing, sort of. Lots of new parts have been ordered, wipers are complete, new trim rings, market lights, reverse lights, Walcks tailgate chains, choke and throttle cables, even though despite how much searching I do I can't figure out how to hook up. The choke I need a conversion for manual but the throttle has me feeling... Simple. Many more parts are on the way now like u-joints for the front driveshaft and seat belts, side mirror, transfer case seals... The list goes on and on, this paragraph is too long already, basically I have been getting a lot of small things done haha.

I am currently only facing 1 dilemma and I'm not sure what it is, when I change gears and go to I guess load the transmission, there is a pop, not loud or anything and you can mainly just feel it in the jeep but it started recently and I have not narrowed it down. Did some upgrading on my transfer case mount and it seemed to help some but it's still there, the mount is in good shape so I don't think replacing it would help. It's only when it's first placed under a load and if you let off the gas it will also do it when the load is taken off. Then back on again, etc.

I feel that's enough for now. Here's some pictures:
