I've never used one, but it is more complicated than the factory linkage and looks like it would require more maintenance over time.

I think a bushing might be found, a block (like a pillow block) fitted with a zerk and bolted on. This would be better, IMO, that the standard little bent metal piece that holds the shaft.

I have had the AA chain clutch release on our '64 CJ5 for the last 15 years. The cable with a ball on the end goes through a hole in the bell housing to the clutch release arm. I have ordered a replacement kit from Kaiser Willys. The chain has seized and I can not shorten it any more, due I am sure to road dirt and salt and lack of any maintenance by me.
The only ware points are at the sprocket and each end.

Walck's and Kaiser Willys have all the replacement parts.

Wheelies comment (post #16) is a heads up. Your 64 did not originally come with this type of bell-housing, therefore your mounting bracket is probably correct for the 64. The transmission should have been the T-90 although this also could have been changed to something else. Could you tell us a bit more about your jeep? The more info we have the better.

Never had one of those totally break loose but the balls do get decidedly not spherical. I have had the ends break off the linkage rod from the pedal to the bell crank and while it's apart, you should look at all those pieces. Think Walcks probably has replacements for all.

The other problem with the tube system is under frame articulation the tube gets cocked and makes clutch engagement/disengagement less effective. I happened across what I think was a NOS retrofit cable for through the floor pedals. It had a Jeep tag from a dealer still attached. Had instructions too. it required me to drill a hole through the clutch arm and install a pin to affix the cable end. The brackets that came with it bolt right up to the Dana 18. Works great. It would be relatively easy to make one out of an old brake cable from a MX bike or an emergency brake cable.

It goes inside the bell housing on my 65. Inspection cover will give access nut you need to pull the floor board.

Well, it ended up being my ball pivot bracket that bolts to the frame. The bracket snapped right at the plate where the ball attaches. Thanks everyone.....
