Ok, so I am nearing the point of starting my jeep for the first time in 3 years of slow work and am hooking up the heater while I am at it.

I have acquired the parts needed for the stock setup as when I got the Jeep it had all been removed. I ordered a heater shutoff valve and outlet from Walcks and can't seem to be certain where they should be attached.

I thought it should go on the top of the head on the rear passenger side but the bolt keeping the spot is too large for the valve ordered.

    Here is the engine, F134

Here are the fittings I just bought

Also here is the water pump, where should the other outlet be attached: Drivers or Passenger side plug?

    Thanks for the help!

On the rear of the block, it looks like you could move your temp sensor to the top of the head, and put the heater valve in it's place.

On mine there's a pipe reducer that goes between the valve & the head. The pump outlet is the one on the passenger side (the one pointing "up" on the driver's side is for a heater bypass hose the goes to the port on the front of the head- some engines have it, some don't.)

The reducer makes sense, any idea where I can find one of those? I don't see anything on Walck's of Kaiser Willys site.

That's what I thought on the water pump but wanted to check.

On a related topic: Any ill effects to not running the bypass hose?

Any hardware store will have them in either galvanized iron or brass, hydraulics places should have steel versions. take the valve & plug to make sure you get the right size.

By rights you should be runnibg a bypass hose if you don't run a heater, or have the heater valve shut off, but I've never heard of it being a real problem not having one. IIRC later engines just did away with them.
