I know what you're saying, but then why come up with a name for every scenario. I'm just saying I understand the logic behind Oldtime describing it the way he does. All we are really talking about here is driveability on the street/highway, but the discussion gets widely ranged because of so many different situations out there.

My only trip on highway was when I bought my CJ5 and brought it home. 400 miles non-stop (except refuelling!). The Hurricane is a very good engine, but on highway... no. You need more power. And good tyres for the road.
You must also drive carefully, braking is not so easy and if rainy weather, it is worse.
It must be seen distinctively that you drive and old historic car, by all means, if not people become agressive.

If you want the look and the performance, just go with an intermediate.

My '72 with worn out original springs and shocks will reliably and regularly run 70 with one finger on the steering wheel. In fact I recently did a 100 mile dash at about 75 pulling an M101 trailer in the rain. Saginaw steering, 11 inch drums, and a 304 really made the platform interstate worthy.

Top was fine, but the typical worn out Intermediate wiper linkage had me hurrying a little bit. At 75 Rainex will keep it clear "enough.":p

Thanks guys for all the great replies....I am taking a break from the whole Jeep lifestyle thing...I have everything Jeep in my yard for sale...I am working on a 1952/53 Chevy truck...maybe when I can get my head on straight I will attempt the Jeep thing again....hoping the old Chevy gets me down the road with out much issue...first thing I did was swap out the 5.13's and I got a K5 Blazer rear end with a gearing in the "3's".....

I think this will make my old truck much less tractor like....like the old CJ2A was...

Steel top, steel doors, and a heater are all plus's too...

    thanks again guys....
