    hey all!

its been a while... i have been waiting on parts and trying to make some decisions about wiring...

i am installing a painless harness in my 76 and thought i would share a couple of pix...

after i got started on the JEEP this evening, i started thinking...

since i am running all aftermarket gauges, and this harness is set up for the OE cluster... how am i going to make all of the gauge lights work?...

then it came to me... how about a parallel circuit? I know this is probably elementary to most of you, but please forgive my epiphany)...

below, you will see my progress... pretty slow going, but i want to make sure its right as well as providing myself with time to think about how i want to do this for future access needs...

i decided, that i would make the wires to the gauges a bit long, so i can remove them from the dash for service without lying on the floor of the jeep to do so...

heres what i have so far

an overview... with each wire pulled thru its respective socket

heres the protection im using... heat shrink large over small and shrunk down with tape on the end

and finally, my thoughts on the parallel circuit for the gauges... does any one see anything wrong with this plan... or maybe a simpler way to achieve the same thing?

as always... thanks for looking and for the help

heres last nights progress... slow, but success is visible!

figured out a way to test as I go, to make sure connections are good and all of the gauges are lighting independently... parallel circuits... that way if one goes out, the rest stay lit...

thanks to everyone here for the help and support!!

theres an electrical pulse unit that has to be bought separately... plug and play to the transmission (hope it fits the T-150)... as far as calibration goes, its push the button, drive 2 miles (speed doesn't matter, as it counts the pulses, if I read it correctly) and push it again... no need to change gearing size for tires

thanks for the kindness johneyboy!... still I wish I had some of your mechanical know-how...

been a L O N G time friends... many distractions and life events, some of my own choosing, have kept me away from the JEEP...

i am planning on getting back to it and getting the wiring (firewall forward) completed soon...

**WARNING** there will be MANY questions about electrical and future upgrades (i have the parts NOW, but just want to get it on the road) to install AFTER i get it running...

too many options results in a complete mental shut-down for me... so i am going to finish it, and install the upgrades later

i will do my best NOT to irritate the pee-winding sh*t out of everyone here with electrical questions

    youve been warned

ok, here is a question for you all...

i have been away from the jeep for a long time and have started back working on it...

i am trying to find an adapter for my mechanical temp gauge to fit in the hole of the performer intake that i have... the gauge is an Auto Meter...

additionally, there are 2 holes (in green) that i have NO idea what they are for... can someone help me out with both which adapter to get for the temp gauge and these holes?

if i can figure out how to post pix and PDFs, i will upload them

I don't know much but have always been able to take the sender to NAPA and they have a bunch of adapters. I'm sure someone may comment shortly on what size the hole is in your manifold. With that size and your sender you should be able to find something.

@johneyboy03 ! long time no talk!

i was just looking at your latest work yesterday... still an INSANE amount of enviable engineering... i would love to sit with your for 6 months and learn from you

i have a couple more photos to add, and the plan is power brakes and getting the correct adapter for the temp gauge... if these other holes need to be plugged, i will plug them with flush tops

the pix are large so you have to click the links below
