Drilled and cut the holes for the heater ductwork..
    New defroster duct installed.

The Jeep Air system insists on insulation in the firewall area to help with the AC..
I took this a few steps further.. I used a combination of Dynamat asphalt paper and 1/2 closed cell Dynaliner padding..
When I restored the Land Rover I took sound proofing fairly seriously.. managed to get the decibels and heat more importantly to a manageable level. The upper cowl area is a ripe place for vibration, started there and got a little carried away with the stuff...

Everything firewall mounted is now mounted through the insulation levels.. I was planning on using some aluminum tape to seal the edges like I did the firewall heat shielding, but I think I might go a different rout with a metal trim edge to make a clean transition between firewall and foot box.

    Starting to come together...
used nylon washers on the dash bolts to protect the paint.. actually gave it a nice look..
Mounted the bulkhead connection low enough that it can be serviceable without removing the dash and wont be air bubble issues with coolant lines.
AA windshield latches working nicely.. still need to bring a door home to check angle of windshield frame.
Slight color variation between frame and dash.... dash pad should be a nice visual brake between the two.

Looking to get the column mounted tonight.. want to sit on a milk crate and pretend.. :)

    Column and steering shaft mounted...
both upper and lower U joint turning nicely with no bind..
the Borgeson shaft is really a nice unit.. Steering feels tight and no play in wheel.

had to remove the inner side of the shock mount for good clearance..
cut the stud right behind the upper shock mount and removed the inner upright brace.
need to grind down rough cut edge and re coat with zinc.
no apparent issue at right height and slight suspension movement..
wont be able to test full frame flex just yet, but from pictures I have seen of others I should be good.

mounted the fan shroud last night,

I just lol'd at work! I wish my stock fenders looked halfway decent but all I had laying around was the rusty white postal fenders so that's what it got. =) Yours is a beaut....Mine's just beat.

Maybe I missed it, but did you say where you picked up the Borgeson steering shaft from? Is it universal fit type thing?
    Your Jeep is looking incredible!

on a suggestion from my wife I actually looked at the instruction manual last night for the painless kit.... I now understand why they call it painless... the instructions actually make sense and answer questions...

manhood slightly insulted, yet thankful for female intervention...

Just a note - if you ever find yourself doing this again - EZWire is identical to Painless and much cheaper. Had them both on my first build to compare them.

Nothing in the way of major progress has gotten completed..
Summer weddings and sunshine has put a damper on spending some quality time wiring..
hard to get anything done in and hour when the first 20 min is spent figuring out where I left off..
planning on taking a day off of work in the near future to get the thing all routed and termed... I can then spend in between time making it look pretty..
Did get everything grounded and installed a ground block on the firewall for all the dash items. that 10 ga wire coming off the neg battery term goes right to the dash block.
