Is this HEI toast

Pulled this from on of my Commandos today, but thought I would post in here because its more general 225 related.

Its a Delco Remy, looks like they broke the back out either during install or to make it fit.

 

That might get you home in a pinch, but I sure wouldn't leave it like that. Bound to cause a misfire eventually.

 

I would replace the cap, but it would probably run just fine.

 

Thanks guys. I plan on selling it, not using it, I just didn't want to try and sell something that is junk. I believe there is a piece out of the cast, not j st the cap.

 

I would say they ground that off to clear the front of the intake rather than grind the intake itself.

 

Yep, looks like grinding marks on there. Like Daryl said, it will likely work fine with a new cap. Appears to be enough lip to keep the garbage out.
