Windshield extenders for Meyers Hard Top

    Hi Gang;

    I'm trying to locate some parts for a Meyers hard top but I need to know what they look like so I can find them!

    Does anyone happen to have pictures of the sheet metal extenders that bolt onto each side of the windshield? Without them, there would be a sizable gap in between the doors and windshield. :rofl:

    Early and late are different. Most of the pictures I have handy are for the "late" model. I do have a couple of pictures comparing the early and late.

    Black = Early (pre-'76), White = Late ('76 and later)

    The pre-76 extenders are what I'm seeking. I understand they're hard to come by.

    Aside from that one dimpled spot at the bottom they probably wouldn't be difficult to reproduce on a sheetmetal brake.

    I thought the same thing.

    When I get done with the sheet metal I have ,I am going to make like 4 pairs .

    Mine dont have the dimples.

    Can anyone get me exact dimensions of the windshield extensions that are shown in the below photo? I am trying to have a fabrication shop bend some of these up for me on their brake. I have two pre 76 meyers tops but none of them have the windshield extensions.

    I would appreciate it greatly!

    I've been bending quite a bit of sheet metal for my DJ project and some of it looks very much like the Meyers top extenders. What are they- about 18 gauge? It's not that hard once you stop scratching your head and get to work (my process). I have a cheap Chinese metal brake, but found that just doing it on my own with angle iron and hammers was a better way to do it. And use lots of clamps.

    Once you get a feel for it, it's not that hard. The tough mental part is thinking the metal is too hard to bend. It's not; you only need to put it between a hammer and a fixed support and it will yield. Set up the fixed support (angle iron works well) and use the hammer appropriately and you'll get there.

    Bend 'em yourself!

    All the sheet metal I have used has been remnant pieces from the local steel yard. cheaper that way. you could probably fabricate those pieces for $2.

    Do you really need the dimensions on the pieces? If you are making them yourself, you just take measurements off the jeep/top/windshield and start cutting and forming.

    Used to be a mystery to me. Not anymore- it's just sheet metal and you don't need ebay or professional metal workers or fancy equipment. Like I said, just a piece of angle iron, clamps and hammers...

    There is an indention on each filler piece. I can't remember if it's to clear the cowl (I think it is) or something else. Wish I would have taken pics while mounted up.
    You can clearly see the indent on the filler pieces Dsrt4 posted (pic of my parts that went with the CJ-6 top I sold).
