Hi. Can anyone tell me how many 1971 CJ5's were built with the fuel tank below the drivers seat and how many were built with the tank behind the rear wheel? Thank you!

Ditto this-'70 was the split year, '71s were all rear tank. But, many (like mine)have been modified with both tanks for more fuel capacity.

Very common for Jeeps to be titled a year later then they should be in the production numbers. Some states titled them in the year sold instead of the production year they were made. It is possible to have a title that says 71 and have a tank under the seat. If it also has a tank under the back, I would bet the under seat was added post dealer.
