After many years of abuse and constantly pushing my Jeep to harder challenges I finally decided to get some real 3/16" steel corner guards. After hours and hours of searching for true 3/16" steel corners for an old CJ I finally found them at Gen Right off road and bought them from Zach at A to Z Fabrication. Zach was a huge help and I highly recommend the company.
The corner guards I had were maybe 16 gauge and just bent with the body when I hit something. They are less than 1 year old.

I also had a bit of body damage from bouncing off rocks. Driver side has similar damage.

There will be a lot of material to remove, time for the high speed and cut off wheel.

It is amazing what you can do with a high speed grinder and cut off wheel.

    Hey Don,
They certainly are not cheap. With shipping around $360. I tried finding someone to bend them here in San Jose with no luck. I tired sheet metal shops, iron works, metal fab shops etc... Probably just don't want to do a "one time" job. I figure if I ever did find someone to do the work the cost of the steel and the fabrication would be well over that. Super high quality and A to Z was cheaper delivered than GenRight.

I am going to do the same thing to My CJ6, I order CJ8 Blanks from Genright last week should be here Friday. I figure I can cut the CJ 8 blanks to cover most of the CJ 6 sides.

I think you will be very happy with them. Mine are pretty heavy so I can't imagine what the longer sides will weigh. Check A to Z Fabrication. Zach got them to me for less shipping than GenRight.

They come with flush bolts. Hopefully I will get the holes for lights and gas tank cut this weekend. Way too thick for my old saber saw so I am going to drill a bunch of holes, cut in between and then clean up with a grinding wheel on the high speed grinder.

I just happened to get lucky and the corners work with the sliders I already had in place.

I used a hole saw. Went right through the corner guard and the body sheet metal. Upgraded to LEDs at that tome too. I made sure I painted all the cut and drilled holes in the body and the corner guard, used a q-tip to get into the small places.
