master cylinders- swing/through the floor

    So, I have a choice to make here. My frame has the factory dual master cylinder set-up. Which puts the mc under the floor of the jeep. It is a major pita to get to just to check it. I also have the option of going with swing pedals from a 73 with the mc up on the firewall. The firewall mc makes it extremely nice for checking/working on things. Besides the ease of working on the brakes would there be any other advantage to the 73 pedals? Now the clutch mechanism I'll be using is the AA chain clutch kit, so I will still be needing the clutch pedal mounted to the frame. Would using a 2nd res mounted higher on the firewall help with the fluid checking or would that cause more headaches with bleeding the air and leaking problems? I hope somebody can help me making the decision with the brake mc and pedal... Thanks for any/all help.

    Since you already have the dual M/C, and the cable clutch set up, why change? Yes, it's a PITA to get to the master cylinder, but how often do you check it, really?
    If you go with a firewall mounted M/C, you should go with a firewall mounted hydraulic clutch as well.
    Just my 2 pennies....YMMV

    If you decide to go with power brakes, the firewall setup will make it pretty easy to install the booster.

    I've also seen small remote reservoirs added to the under the floor MC before and mounted on the firewall. The purpose would be to check the break fluid under the hood without checking under the floor.

    thanks for the replies, I never had any luck with the cable for the clutch. 3 cables and all junk. I like the chain for simplicity, I do know the clutch pedal itself won't work with the chain mechanism but I have several other jeep frames with the correct arm that will work with the aa set-up. Simple is better. You guy are probably right, just use whats already there. My question on the remote res, is do they cause other issues with bleeding/ leaking?

    So those are tapped into the side of the cylinder, correct?

    Yes, I taped into the upper side of the MC. The resivoir is from a VW.

    okay, the master is shot, no fluid in rear but fluid in front. So it leaked. Should I buy a reman, or would new be the ticket? I dont trust myself rebuilding the current master.

    If it is shot, I would go brand new.
