I was checking the net the other day and it poped up in the auto parts section.
I called the guy and he was working late but we could meet about 8pm.
So off I go with only the one picture to go by, now he said it was a 1967 model. Bu we know that thay stopped in 64-65.
Get there and had to climb over several old cars just to get to it.

As you can see in the picture it had very little rust and not all dented up.
This truck belonged to his dad and it was last drove 10+ years ago.
It had all of the glass but the windsheild was cracked. Both doors opened and closed ok.
Now the bad news, the motot had been changed out to chevy 237 V8. he said it would over heat when crawling along but ok at higher speed.
Looked and it had no fan shroud and the fan was about a foot from the rad.

I know a lot of you would like to have one of these I have been looking for about 8 years, most I looked at were comlete rust buckets or the owner thought he had a gold mine.

Now some people think I might gave to much for it, cost me $2000.00 and he has a NM title for it.

Here is the picture more to come later this weekend.

Sure will, The windsheald is broken in the middle down low.
Most every thing look like it is there, evan the dog house cover.
The tail gate is almost like new, little rust in seam, somebody put a pipe in the upper lip and this kept it from bending

Put your J-truck up on IFSJA and FSJ Network.

Dig those New Mexico cab corners! :tea:

I presume it had a 226 originally? Is it a T90 or T98? Or did the F170 get the T90?

    I like it - a lot. fb

Yep, almost all the cab corners typically will be rusted out. Another item to look at is the frame, especially over the front spring hangers. If the rig was actually used, most cracked there.

I believe all the FC 170's came with the 226. I don't think the F head was even an option. Most also came with side shift T90's, but a T98 was an option-with a unique top cover for the remote shifter.

You have 327 marker emblems on both sides of the cab. Wasn't one of the engines offered in the J-trucks a 327?

Yes in the late 60's you could get a 327 in the J truck and FSJ wagons, but that was a AMC engine complete differant than the chevy SB engines
Some people think the AMC 360/390 engine is a Ford but thay are complete differant engines only the same CI.

There was one legacy of the early AMC 250, 287, 327 engines: the bore spacing on the 290, 304, 343, 360, 390, and 401's is the same-done so they could use the same engine boring equipment. GM did it also. The big blocks share the same spacing as the 348 and 409 W engines and in fact, a later big block crank can be fitted in the earlier blocks.
