This is in my CJ7. I have a new blank to build a new dash. My plan is to use a Autometer programmable speedo in the center, and surround it with 4 gauges (like in my GPW). Water, oil, fuel, batt.

Good idea to make a special panel for the gauges - it avoids to put away all the dash manel to work on it.

I'll think about it. Good idea.

I forget who makes these SS replacements, but they are sweet! I think it was $200 shipped.

I opted for the non-radio model & drilled the three extra holes for the boost, AF ratio, & OBA pressure gauges.

this is right in arms reach-- so much better than the dash mount location!

Sort of. That was the initial idea. Then a buddy told me that he almost always had to pull both levers when trying to front dig; that pulling one side was usually not enough to hold the Jeep from just going forward and dragging the locked wheel. He suggested setting it up so one stick controls the front axle and the other controls the rear. This way the Jeep could do front or rear digs.

The CNC cylinder was not set up to do this and CNC told me that they do not offer one that can do what I wanted, so... I modified the one I had. (Details on that here) .So now they are effectively hand brakes. I am excited to try them out!

:)Regarding the Steering Brake............I've had pretty good success in the past with the old single lever Dune Buggy steering brake that is only hooked to the rear axle only. Does require a special check valve. Push forward and engages the right side and pull back and brakes on the left........works well on a hill when locked up when the steering has little effect on the direction of travel.
