Recently a guy told me he had an old military jeep trailer to sell...he didn't know much about it other than that it was military. He sent me these pictures (see link below). This doesn't look like any of the military trailers I know of, particularly since it appears to have a tailgate. What intrigues me is the picture with the "Marine Corps Base" label. Does anybody recognize this trailer or have any info on what it might be?

    Thanks!

OK sorry, I should have done a little more research before posting! Looks like this trailer resembles the Ben hur trailer in the prior subject thread? The trailer looks pretty rough, but are these things decent trailers? Not sure what the going price is for such a trailer.

I think that I read somewhere that Ben-Hur made both military and civilian trailers and that the military trailer had flat fenders and the civvie ones had rounded fenders like the one in the picture. My guess is that that's a civvie trailer that was just used on base (and therefore had a base tag). If it was a military trailer it would have several data plates. Even if it's a civvie trailer, if the military owned it it would most likely have at least one data plate.

I'm not an expert, that's just my best guess. Try to find out if it's 6, 12 or 24 volt. If it's 12 volt then I'd say that it's absolutely a civvie trailer. Also see if it has a lunette or ball hitch. If the hitch looks original, then the type should tell you if it was built to work with military or civvie vehicle. If the hitch has obviously been changed then the original would almost certainly be the opposite of what's on it now and it will still mostly likely tell you of the intended use.
