Just my thoughts- I really don't like foot pedal e-brakes, especially if they have a "stomp to release" mechanism. I can't always tell if they're all the way on or not, and you can't just stomp to release a partially engaged one if you're on the road. Having a lever release is better, but IMO having a lever-actuated brake is the best.

I'm definitely looking at trying to restore the one in the tux-in-a-barn, when I get to that point.

With the later Jeep parking lever discussed previously, you set it with your foot and pull to release with your hand. There is no pushing the lever with your foot again.

Just got a used 71 T pull brake set up like in JPC's photos. Got it from Herm today. So it mounts with a single bolt on the lip of the bottom of the dash. How secure is that and does it put a lot of tension or bend in the dash. Does there need to be added support? I should say that I have a brand new dash from Double D so I am starting from new. old dash was a piece of wood that was falling apart so i have nothing I can copy from.

:iagree:............the hand E-brake would only be better if it was between the seats.

Which is why I said I prefer the military style in my M38A1. Plus the linkage is very direct and simple.

It goes through the firewall where it's locked in place with a C clip.

I hope I can find the clip.

added 4 links that I have marked with emergency brake pictures.

Hell they are (quoting because I saw it quoted on a later page and felt it needed addressing). I've seen a lot that could be partially engaged, but were still the stomp-to-release kind. Both the Aerostar and Windstar had them, and probably other vehicles as well. Sucks if you always park in gear, but another person driving it engages the e-brake and doesn't bother to tell you.
