Thank you-What is the indexing for, to keep the drill straight on the drum so they are all exact. Sorry :(

On a mill, you can dial in the degrees of rotation of the drum between each hole. The home-made indexer just held the drum upright and straight to the drill, IIRC. The indexing was done by lining up the marks on the drum with the drill bit. Not as precise, but apparently acceptable.

http://www.earlycj5.net/forums/showthread.php?65703-drilled-drums - Lynn - Billy (blevisay). Looks like Lynn's pictures have expired. Post an explicit question in the Early forum, or send PMs. GIYF 8)

    Ok thanks, I will.

I have a guy who has the equipment and a machinist. Fabs up axles etc so I will get w/him and discuss it after I get all the info.

If you find anything else please post it/I will also.

Thank you again for your time,
    Jim

I am confused, wouldn't the drums listed be 10 inch?

Jim...........Just for your info here is a photo of a Caliper bracket being redrilled or re-indexed on a Rotary table on my Mill. This was done simply to move the location of the Caliper to a different clocking location on the hub. Hope this helps.[IMG]

You mean the drums I listed? Yeah, the picture looks wrong. I did not look at it closely enough. The nominal diameter is 11", not 10" for a '72. Either RockAuto is listing the wrong part, or they put up the wrong picture. Don't know why they list 10" and 11" drums for 1972-3 - clearly an error.

This is right, but it's more money than the Centric parts - https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=427069&cc=1309441

I noticed these (blinker indicators I guess), and under the hood there is a light bulb in a little black box that I guess lights these up.

    Two questions.

Question 1. Are the blinker indicators (if that's what they are) factory ?

Question 2. Is this sticker stock or ? Does anyone know the reference ? I didn't look at it close so it might be painted on there.

    Thanks,
    Jim

If the 13.1 is what you're referring to, that is not stock.

The side markers on the fenders are indeed factory.

The little black doohickeys on top of the front fenders are not stock. The orange reflector lights set into the fenders are. They should blink with your turn indicators.

    OH !

That's what I was referring to, those things on top of the fender. There is a bulb in a black box that I think ties to those or feeds light. I'll have to investigate/video to show it.

    Thanks,
    Jim

The 13.1 sticker is in reference to running a 1/2 marathon.

I don't think it was factory. Looks like a Autometer if memory serves and it works :)

Seems like Jr's '74 came w/cruise control, not sure.
Also a pic of the engine bay w/all the smog stuff on it and the gas by-pass valve to switch tanks.

Doing a little messing around today w/Jr's Jeep and come to find out he has 4.27 gear ratio :)

He has plenty of wheel well room so how big of a tire can he go. w/this 3spd and that ratio no wonder why the PO installed a second tank.
