I have known the AX5 in my jeep needs help. The synchros are wonky, but it has been like that for a long time. I noticed yesterday i have two weird things come up.

    1. Not so weird, but in reverse i can hear clicking in the transmission, but no clicking in forward gears.

    2. When in neutral with the clutch pedal released the tranny seems to try to go into gear because the transmission clicked like something is trying to ride on a synchro and the jeep actually starts to motion forward. I put in the clutch it stops. And it doesnt do it everytime. It seems to do it more when i first start up the jeep and let it idle. clutch seems to work just fine because it goes away when the clutch is engaged.

I know the AX% seems to have its issues but i am curious if there is something in the shifter or shift rails that is odd. The tranny only has 75K miles on it, driven on flatground in florida, babied by my stepdad (never power shifts and drives slow).

    Thanks for any help!!

Sorry, but doesn't sound like an easy fix upstairs. Rebuild time. Or find an AX15 and stab it in with the conversion kit or Dakota bellhousing.
