You don't have to use the Braille Method when driving off-road, Steve. ;)

FWIW, I bought a counter sink bit for the screws for my rocker guards.

rockers are done,,,,simple, and really thick metal ready for a hit .
bumper is cut in multipule spots and ps box is hung from top holes . can't even begin to say how long it took to get the hole cut and box top to fit up into the bumper like that ,this 1 hurtle took weeks to work out bumper ,shackle and box and not make a wrong cut .bumper will be welded to frame ,,and box fits up under it for service .
I will probably fab up a cover to the hole later .....or polish alum cap and install nice shiney bolts

    almost ready for welding .

this will get some kind of strap to fill in the bottom of bumper so it doesn't know it was cut

how did you make the rockers? angle iron, square tubing cut in two, or did you bend some flat plate?

Mike- those rockers are 20" longer than you need
Super- I went to a off road swapmeet in ramona ,a guy there was selling these. he had them made from thick sheet, said he had over $160in metal and bending for a new plastic dashed jeep ,,,,,,,,I picked them up for $40 !!!.they were about 3" too long and I drilled/chamfored the holes

Super - i got the tub from Dummy it had some cut 3" square tube rockers all ready to go,you can have them if you want . they are just rusting

Naw, I can work with those. :D. Seriously, those are nice. What is the thickness? 3/16? I am going to be making some new ones in the next couple of months.

You are not going to make it to TDS??
    Like the rockers!

I split a piece of rectangular tubing lengthwise to make mine, came out with that same outside rounded corner just like Steve's instead of the sharp 90 degree corner that angle iron has.

Here's a cool design for rocker guards designed by one of our members on here. I used this design and they have proven well.

I used that same technique for my winch mount risers. Looks much better than angle iron. Costs a little more to do it that way, but it's worth it IMHO.

I used that technique to make some angle fish plates to reinforce the front spring hangers after crack repair. Never thought about it for rockers, makes sense though. I like the tube / step idea too, may have to try that. Thanks for the ideas!

    CJ6/442,

    :)
Here are my rockers 2x3 tubing with 1.750" DOM bumpers...........but attached to the frame with three struts...........one of which picks up my front roll cage down tubes whereby it rides between the tub and frame strut on a high energy poly body mount same as is used to mount the tub............so the tub, frame and cage are all moving in the same moment.

Would love to see your front bumper / winch mount when its done............nice work!:D
