Today I picked up some stuff to rig up a kayak I won last year . Well the more I looked at it the more I think about putting it on the jeep . I think this would be nice on the dash of the jeep and look fairly clean with the stuff off of it .

What is it , its a modular track mount that works with various t bolt mounting systems and works really well with a ram ball with a Tbolt on the back of it . the back of the bar is curved so I think it would also be easy to adapt rollbars . What do yall think ?

I think it's a creative idea. I definitely like the idea of having a place to set my iphone in my 40+ year old jeep. I think if you could figure out a way to mount the kayak to the roll bars that would be cool. GO FOR IT! :) and post some pics along the way

    I like it!

To get the use of my Iphone, I bought a bicycle phone holder, and attached it to the grab bar.
Makes the passenger work for their ride so I can focus on driving.

I had not thought of using that modular tracking stuff. Awesome idea man. Hmm wonder if putting a couple of scotty mounts around the Jeep would look funny R)

That opens up a whole new world for hanging stuff all over my Jeep. Really not a bad idea. Got me thinking.

I still have a couple rain gutter mount roof racks from back in the day. I've thought about putting some small brackets on the sides of the roll bar and some kind of a simple frame over the back of the Jeep to mount them to. I envision a triangular base mounted to the wheelhouse with extra backing underneath like the roll bar, then straight up and over the back. Brackets on the sides like on the roll bar.

I don't know how expensive the kayak railing is, but a similar stock material, along with attachments, hardware, end caps etc can be found at 80/20 if you want to check it out. I think your idea opens a lot of possibilities.

from MSC, 80/20 #1515 lite, which is 1.5" square alum extrusion, is about $73 for an 8 foot stick. 80/20 has lots of other extrusion shapes including more cosmetically appealing shapes, but that is a good price comparison. There are other competing brands out there as well besides 80/20.
