I would like to see your wrangler setup. I can't decide to do a frame or tank mounted fuel pump.

I'll post here as it may help the OP as well..... Go to page 7 on this forum, look at thread " Kahuna project 66 cj6"......on page 49 of that thread you'll find pics and write up of install.....I used a pump for a 4.0 HO as it was similar in output to the Ford 5.0 HO..... In tank = cooler IMHO ..... Jim

Perhaps, but I think the fuel and tank will be very close to ambient temp anyway. I frame mounted mine. A 10 minute replacement job versus most of a day job pulling and reinstalling the tank. Maybe I have just worked on too many Chevy/GMC's where it is easier to lift the box than to pull the tank.

True but that depends on how much crap is in the bed of the pickup. Best time for me on a gm pickup has been 30 min. You get fast at them when you buy cheap pumps.

Submariner, Im in the middle of doing mine on my 64' CJ5. Got a like new stainless tank and skid plate from a guy with a 72' for dirt cheap. Basically a bolt up, as Ive mocked it recently. You do however have to cut out the pintle hook reinforcement frame to get the room back there. Gas filler is also stock (got it in the sale) routes to right rear below light/blinker. Also start thinking about your exhaust as I will be rerouting from my previous dual exhaust from the 225 v6 w/ headers. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for all of the replys, we stripped down the 62 to the frame going to pull the motor and axels off of the frame this weekend if the weather cooperates and start in on the 66. I want to get the tank figured out before we move on to anything else.

I agree with duffer on the frame mounted pump. Easier and faster to replace out in the boonies if you have a failure, My system has a return line so the continuous flow of fuel seems to help keep the pump cooler. I carry a spare pump with the fittings already in place, just in case.
