Anyone know them off hand? Just acquired a new windshield glass and we're not sure what it fits. It was ordered for a 3a and was too small. It seems narrower than my '5 windshields and is one piece. I suspect as short as it is it might be 3b. Thanks for any help.

3B glass is approximately 13X49" (measured with glass in-place and guessing a bit on how far into the gasket it sets).

    CJ-3A , CJ-3B and M38 are all the same w/s glass.

the 3b glass is shorter, at least the one we have is. This glass was ordered for a 3a and was too short and could not be installed. Matches a 3b perfectly. About 3 hours ago I held the glass up to a 3b ws and was the same. Remember the 3b ws is shorter due to the taller cowl that was moved up for the F head engine.
I would have thought the glass was the same too but we found out the hard way that is not the case. The ws frames were original Jeep issue fwiw. Maybe there were variations somewhere down the line, I don't know. All I can say is this glass matches the 3b and did not match an original 3a frame. Makes sense the 3a and M38 glass would be the same.

Can anyone measure a 3a ws glass and shed some light on this?

I would have sworn that I deleted that right after I posted it.

I have an unmounted 3A and a 3B w/s glass in my garage.
I'll measure them both and check the W/O part numbers.
Best I can recall offhand is that the 3A glass is like 3/4" shorter width.

I don't have any M38 military parts list.
But all my many CJ Parts Lists 1949-1966 agree:
W/S glass #670911 is correct for all vintages of CJ3A, CJ3B, and DJ3A.

I have an original glass that measures 12-7/8" tall X 48-3/4" wide X 5-1/2" radius corners.
    I have an original 3B w/s frame opening that measures 13-5/8" tall X 49-1/2" wide X 6-1/4" radius corners.
From that you can see the glass is exactly 3/4" smaller than the frame opening.

    I have a reproduction 3A w/s frame and glass.
The w/s frame opening is not standard.
The glass for it is not as wide as the standard W/O #670911.
That particular non original / non standard glass measures 13" tall X 47-7/8" wide X 5-3/4" radius.

Since these are all just flat safety glass, just about any glass shop can cut you one for way less than you can get one at a windshield shop. My last one was cut for something like $75. I just had them use my old one for a pattern but Ken's dimensions given above is likely all one would need.
