I'm almost ready to paint, (66 cj5) should the following items be gloss or semi gloss?

    Transmission cover plates
    Windshield frame
    Seat brackets
    Shift levers
    Dash grab handle

It appears the trans, tcase, pedal arms and skid plate were un painted, is that correct?

You can paint the dash grab handle any color you want as they were not a stock item. Windshield frame is body color.

Sorry, but the Kaiser windshield frames were gloss black from the factory, grab bars were either gloss black or chrome, and were "Jeep Approved" options. The floor plates and seat brackets were also gloss black.
The gloss black was enamel, not the "wet look" gloss of base/clear.

Thanks, I found lots of info about being painted black but no one differentiated gloss vs semi gloss.

Sorry, gloss black , but as Key said enamel not wet look. I repainted it using Krylon gloss and was a real close match.

I assume the "wet look" is a 2 stage (base and clear) vs a single stage (one shot, wet sand and buff) ?

my 69 had been repainted to body color by the PO.

I had it PC'd gloss black.

I bought another locally of CL that's original to a 68 and is gloss black, I think under the dinge of dust and fade.

Kaiser made 3B's which are Early Jeeps in my opinion.

The latest 3B was made by Kaiser. I'm still looking for an 8105 serial tag from a '64.

After I finished my frame, I set it outside for 6 months next to my garage. It has been in the garage since then. It looks good

Good to know. I have been using Masterchem HAMMERITE a lot. I don't believe it is moisture cured like POR15 but it seems nice so far. Only time will tell if its as tough as POR15 though.

I replied to a similar question recently saying Rustoleum Gloss Black should be very close to what was originally used for the windshield frame, seat frames, floor plates, levers, pedal arms, etc. This paint will "weather" a bit in a year or two, but still protect the parts from rust.

Note that gloss enamel from a spray can (Hammerite, Ace, Rustoleum and such) is not as glossy (nor as durable) as the 2K paints used for automotive exteriors. I'd expect spray bomb gloss enamel would be very close to what was used for windshield frame, seat frames, floor plates, levers, pedal arms, etc. I like the spray paint from Ace hardware - they also have a "satin black" which you could test for this purpose.
