Does anybody know anything about these winches. It is like a 8274 but has no freespooling, only powered out. I have heard everything from they are a bellvue to they were only available as a Jeep dealer installed option.

As far as I'm concerned they are identical in every way to the 8274 except for the free-spool. I have one and just ordered parts for the 8274 for the rebuild. No issues.

Funny story...I wasn't sure myself so when I was talking to the kid selling it I said, look I don't want to buy a $100 paper weight, so he left the meeting place, I called him back about 10 mins later and said, if you can go to $90, I'll take the chance that its rebuildable. I found out it is and already started the process. Beats the heck out of my 8274 purchase of $350 a few years ago.

Friend of mine has one (his is marked 8275, but a quick google search tells me they are the same thing basically)

It's just an 8274 without a freespool mechanism. You can order the freespool knob thingy, base, and gear, and with a drill, taps, and two machine screws, add a 8274 style freespool.

If you want to go for cool-kid status, buy the newer splined gear and motor from an 8274-50, and get a serious motor upgrade out of the project.

Or, if you are bucks up, and really want to make others jealous, get a Gigglepin dual motor top for your Warn.
