I have been rebuilding a 79 CJ7 for the past few months and have swapped to YJ BDS springs and am currently running 33x12.5s on some old wagon wheels I had which have around 4" backspacing. Needless to say and as expected with the narrow track axles the tires rub the springs and will hit the inner tub in back. I put some washers behind the steering stops for a temporary fix but am looking to pick up some rims with less backspacing and was thinking of going with 2.5". I would rather get rims then use wheel spacers and the axles (79 D30, early 70s D44) are already geared and locked so I don't want to swap them out. Is anyone running 15x8s with 2.5" backspacing? Any pics of how it looks? Thanks!

Here’s a pic of mine just after getting 33X12.5’s on 15X10 wheels with 2.5” of backspacing. Tires stuck out about 4-5”, which is why I put flares on it before putting a new top on since the old top died from getting constantly blasted with mud and gravel.
