so here goes, posting here so that i can share with everybody.

a week ago, a friend texted me a picture. his neighbor knew a guy that knew a guy, that knew a 70+ year old farmer that came to the realization that he will never finish all the stuff he has going on and was purging everything that wasn't used. the picture that started it just said Jeepster, this guy wants $250.00 dollars.

well, it wasn't a jeepster, and ive been lusting after an FC for a few years now. i got the guys #, and gave him a call. he wanted $300.00. i asked if it had a title, he said yes, i said sold. i called in sick to work the next day, drove the 45 minutes to his place and paid him the money. next step was to figure out how to get it home.
the following saturday i borrowed my Father laws truck and car trailer and went back to the guys house.

we used a large tractor to pull it out from the place its been sitting at the past 20+ years.

initially we thought all 4 wheels were locked up but they just couldn't turn with the flat tires that were there.

so, using two skid steers, the front end was picked up, and the truck/trailer was backed underneath. the FC was set down, and then a skidsteer was used to pick up the back end and shove it onto the the car trailer.

    the goal:
get it in my shed, get it running. clean it up and see where i am at. then i can decide if i want to spend the cash on brakes, engine stuff, etc.

as for aftermarket support, there are two options
    1. The Forward Forum
this is an old-school chat forum from the dial up, AOL days. . nothing like ECJ5.com.
    2. The FC Connection
this is a website more for the "braggers" with very nice forward controls, worthy of their own website.

    what i know for sure:

it was a plow/tow truck. taking all of that plow stuff off. i hate seeing old jeeps with plows on them.
it hasn't run in a lot of years.
    it is VERY rusty.
there is next to zero aftermarket support for it.
the glass is mostly good, but i can get that, if that time ever comes
there is a guy on youtube Brian, or metalshaper, that is restoring a FC cab. he made all of the body parts. i have watched his videos. he wont sell any body panels. he had too many complaints from people whose crusty old cabs didnt match his better than new body panels.

    known Mechanics:
    134F head motor
    t90 transmission
    Dana 18 transfer case
Dana 44 front and rear axles
neat winch in the bed. (this was a plow and tow truck)
250lb cast iron counterweight in the back, so it doesnt tip onto its face in the event of fast stops.

picture will come as they are taken. if anybody needs any reference pictures for their FC150, let me know, i will gladly help out.
so..if you know about any FC body parts, or parts cabs located near WI, let me know too, okay?:D

Very cool. I have a couple 57 narrow track Fc-150's. Mine share pretty much all running gear with a CJ-5. If yours is a wide track with the Dana 44's, they are unique axles. Plenty of info on Facebook groups if you are on there, and several gatherings of owners in different parts of the country each year. I think the last one was in Iowa, which would be the closest one to you. The guy that runs the FC connection lives in Missouri if I'm not mistaken. All good guys with a ton of collective knowledge.

24x50. not big enough. the PO of my house built it silly too. 1 6' tall door on the small end. so it wasn't even a drive through. after the first year i put an 8' door on it, and an 8' door on the other end.
if i were building it, i would put a few 8' doors on the long end for separate bays. and i would have made it have 10' sidewalls.

also on a side note. my FC's name is Ben. i named him Ben because the friend of mine that introduced us, his name is ben too.
also, if i end up quitting, i now have Dana 44s, front and rear for a KILLER ECJ5 build!

I was thinking Ben since it's "been" parked for so long.

Don't rush things. It'll come along over time.

Check with Brian Hainer. He makes body panels for probably anything and has all kinds of Jeep stuff. I saw he posted some fc150 body panel stuff on YouTube not long ago. Metalshaper is his handle

Winch is a D O james manufacturing company winch out of Chicago. Anybody seen these? It weighs about 300lbs. This is the backside view.

    Here's a few "inspiration pics"

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

This Jeep belonged to a friend in town. I ran into Ron at the hardware store a few years back and we started talking Jeep. I asked if I could snap a few pics. He was proud of that old rig and liked to show it off. He'd get that "Jeep grin".... Ron passed away last year at 92 yrs old.

You get the bigger D44 ring and pinion but most of the remaining D44 closed knuckle axle is the same as the D25/D27. Same spindles/knuckles/and I believe even the same axle shaft diameters. Better yes, but certainly a long ways from an open knuckle equivalent.

That FC 150 looks like it's going to be a LOT of work. I have 2 complete FC 150's (57 and 60) and a FC 170. Plus parts from 2 more FC 150's, one of which I scrapped out and the other just a cab/doors/box and frame. The latter cab and doors were in very good condition and have them in primer-if I ever get to that project again.

here was the winch, the mounting plate, and the angle iron. the mounting plate was 1/4" steel, and had 3" angle welded to it, bolted to the frame of the FC. glad to be rid of it. but, since i share the same name as the winch, i feel i need to try and get it operational. i will take it up to my house garage for disassembly, greasing and painting. now, how do i go about getting a PTO with a lever to run this off the back of my Dana 18? its a gear driven winch.
