If he scans each cardboard template, it is computer aided design.

Why the "pie slice" in the middle? Just curious.

I get almost all my steel from the scrap yard. The 18g came in 12” x 96” strips. The two side pieces are 12” wide by around 16” long, and I just filled in the middle. (y)

Do you have a bending brake or did you bend those panels with a jig in a HF press?

Good enough reason. (y) I was afraid you were pulling off some super-neat trick and I was missing it.

I have to admit, fitting this together in one piece would have been a lot harder, so the added amount of welding is a bit of a wash in terms of time and frustration. I might’ve done it like this even if I had the correct material. This section will be hidden under the seats and console, so it doesn’t need to be perfect.

That was actually the easy part. Mating the 18g to 1/8” around the perimeter was a mess. It took a lot more heat to penetrate the 1/8 than the 18g preferred.

When you said, "Let the hate mail commence..." at first glance it looked like some kind of hood scoop and I was thinking, "Oh no! Not that!" So anything else was going to be great.

    Seriously, you do awesome work!

If you guys want something worth praise, check out CJ3BL’s build over on pirate. That guy is an artist.

Meanwhile, I’m over here spending 3 days building a frame for my floor piece that I come to find out I can’t remove. :banghead: My 2-piece floor is going to have to be a 3-piece floor. Back to the drawing board.
