Johnny- Any updates on this project? I have a SPEN in similar condition that I am about to start a very similar project on TONIGHT. I see you offered up panels. Didn't know if they were still available. Would also like additional info on your progress here. Tried to PM but it didn't work, so hoping you see this post to your thread.

    Thanks!

hey guys, I figured I'd post up a quick update on my trailer project since wmshay6 was interested in what I've done to it. I ended up running out of time and patience on the body of the trailer, and needed it to move some furniture up north to my folks in NH. Because of that, I decided to put the "restoration" on hold and build a wooden utility body for the trailer. There isn't much Spen left on the trailer (leaf springs, fenders, and a few odd bits).

This body is somewhat temporary as I build the tub up from scratch. Although the Spen's panels are in ok shape, I decided that what I really wanted was an "adventure trailer" and could build one from scratch for roughly the same as I'd put into a restoration, and still not have exactly what I want. So, in the meantime this will serve as a utility trailer.

I built a sliding tongue so I could improve the tracking and visibility with longer vehicles such as my pickup truck. So far it has not proven useful for the Jeep and FJ Cruiser, so it stays in the shortened length.

This was the trailer's "proof of concept" maiden voyage, 600 miles north. Go hard or go home, right! In this case it was go hard, home!

These next two pics show the condition of the tub. Pretty good, with minor rust holes along the front edge and some warpage from use.

    Hi jonnyc,
    congratulation for the restoration.
    Let me introduce myself.
I live in Argentina and I have a SPEN MODEL S too.
    I have also a CJ-2A 1947 and a MB Slat Grill from March 1942
As you know the SPEN trailers are not so common so you can imagine how difficult is find parts for its restoration in my country.
I noted you put a pair of new tires with aluminium wheels. I have one original wheel but it don´t have the clips for the hub cups.
I noted your trailer had at least one of the original wheels. In case you will not use it, I want to know if you want to sell to me the five clips.
Many thanks for your time and sorry if I disturbe you with my question.
    Cheers,
    Charlie Saguier

Hey Charlie, I'm surprised to hear that you have a Spen trailer all the way down in Argentina! I think that's a very rare thing indeed :) I still have the wheels for the trailer but as far as I remember the clips that you are talking about are welded on to the wheel. I'd be glad to take some pictures of them for you to possibly fabricate onto your wheels. I would think shipping from the US to Argentina would be cost prohibitive.
If you can, send me a PM about any possible purchase. The mods don't like discussions about selling things without prices and such.
