After looking at the now I’m all messed up because it doesnt have the Tux Code. When I bought it, it came with the front 60/40 bench seat, tuxedo hood emblems, V6 side emblems and chrome front bumper. It also had the mounts for the rear chrome bumper, All of which were very worn out and matched the Jeep's age. It has a roll bar and had wheel well cushions that fit around the roll bar with snaps which looks similar to the Tux ones only with cutouts to accomadate the rollbar. Floor shift transmission, electric oil and amp indicators on the gauge. 225 V6, Locking front hubs, Vented heat on winshield, heat controls below spedometer. I believe it’s a 69. Also I might be missing something but are dual exhausts that fit tight with the side steps on the passenger and driver side something standard? Most everything seems in place and orginal, no modifcations other than reverse tail lights added and it looks like the winch was taken out. Right now Im tearing it down for a rebuild so all my pieces are scatterd, but before I get any futher I need to clear this up. If anyone has any info or could help me out I'd appreciate it.

Well, 1967 was the last year for the Tux models. However that may not be the correct vin plate for that Jeep. You will find a frame vin number on top of the frame right hand side just above the rear spring hanger. You may have to do some light sanding to find it if the frame is not too heavily rusted. Did you get a title with this car? Post up a pic or two. Does it have the normal Tux chrome pieces on it? Should have chrome hood hinges, windshield hinges, hood hold back latch, inside rear-view mirror, left side rear-view mirror, grab bar, rear tail lights, license plate light, both bumpers, tailgate chains, hood stand-offs (top of windshield) and a few other goodies.

This is all the chrome it has minus the front bumper, just looked at the serial on the frame and could make out same as the plate's last set. Engine Code DPH 118. I may have the title not sure, been sitting so long.

Factory exhaust is a single out the back. Realistically, if the VIN plate doesn't say it's a Tux, then, it's not a Tux. If the frame number says it is, then you have a lot of work to do to get a VIN plate and title to match it.

According to my info, your engine was made in late April 1968. So far the info you have supplied tells me that somewhere along the line that somebody has moved a lot of parts around to try to make this standard jeep look like a Tux or that he had a Tux parts car and made a complete jeep using what parts he had available.

I have seen people take Tux parts and put on a regular Jeep not knowing that the serial number is part of what makes a Tux a Tux. They see one for sale that is advertised for more and read about it and then take it on themselves to make one.
