So I went to my local Custom Holley Carb shop today. I had purchased a set sight bowl plugs. I explained how I had lost one while changing the needles and seats and installing a vent whistle to help with the problems associated with offroading these carbs. He mentioned that I probably would get less than expected results from these changes and would more than likely still have issues with the carb flooding in extreme conditions. He suggested an alternate plan by setting up a full flow system. Ok I'll bite what exactly is this? He explained that by drilling and tapping the sight bowl holes for #4 lines and running them back to a low pressure electric fuel pump and sending any excess fuel back to the tank via a return line this should take care most issues in almost every angle. So now I have assembling the various parts for this and will be starting on this modification soon. I would like to get this done quietly and quickly and not tell my son since he is always talking about how his T***** IS ALL THAT because he has fuel injection in the 22re and runs 37s. Well if this performs as described he should be in for quite a surprise. I will be posting pics of the install as it progresses. Anyone else have any experience with this? And yes I did not purchase the plugs after all.

If it was me, I would give the spring loaded needles and whistle tubes a try, along with either connected/vented (as per truck avenger) or extended vent tubes before embarking on the return flow system. Your side pivot bowls should work pretty well.

I will agree with your shop person that if using the end pivot bowls on 4150/4160 carbs, all the Holley parts in the world will not cure the problem. BTDT
