I just got a D-300 to put into my MJ...it will be used a a passenger drop case as in a stocl CJ since my MJ has a passenger side front diff.

The PO of this case tried to make a homemade twin stick and it didn't work like it should.

I need a clear...fairly closeup picture of the shifter mechanism from the front of the case to know what I need to fix/replace.

If it is similar to the D-20 (I have one of those) I can use that as a reference if no one can get a pic.

I searched for it on google but ended up with a mostly twin stick pics...I don't want to go twin stick right now as my front axle may not like me.

    Thanks!!

Is it close to the jeep D-20? My 5 has one so I can look at that if they are close. Unless I can find a scout D-20 pic I don't have one of those near me to look at.

Looks like Hawkes nailed it but yes, they are pretty much the same iirc.

The Jeep model 20 is completely different

If you change your mind, from time to time there is a guy on ebay from Paulsbo, WA who builds a realy nice twin stick unit. If you are sure you want the single stick, send pm, I believe I kept all the original parts when I did my twin stick.

    I will look into it.

Right now I just need to get the 4wd trans and D-300 IN so I can get it functional. I really want to get back to offroading and my CJ5 would ge t beat up if I took it where we go.

The setup this guy used can be made to work...I just don't want to mess with it now.

cj5/442 if you can please e-mail me the pic(s) you have to tracjas@yahoo.com I'd really appreciate it.

No rush. My transmission is still 300 miles away and even if it was here I can't afford the rear driveshaft yet (I think I have a front one already).

    Thanks!

The jeep 300 parts are very similar but the shifter mounts outside the ears on a tapered shaft with a nut that looks like a tapered lug nut

it is indeed a lug nut on the later replacement shafts...along with the shock bushing for anti-rattle.

Well I am finally about to put the 4wd AW-4 and D-300 in my MJ. I have the new 21 spline input in the D_300 and the spacer/adapter bolted on. I am waiting for the F/R output seals for the case and I am pretty much ready to go.
The t-case will hit every gear it is supposed to BUT before I setup my shifter(s) I have a question...do the shift rails run parallel to each other or does one stick in/out a notch further the the other? I have the case in 4 low now and both rails are as far in as they can go so it seems they run parallel...?
