Will a M38 hard top fit a 63 CJ5

I tried to do some research on this but some times it's just best to ask. I'mm looking at getting a hard top for my 63 CJ5. I found one off a 52 M38. Just wondering if anybody would know if it would fit mine. Thanks.

 

Probably not with out a lot of work. The M38 tub tapers (gets narrower back to front) mid-door and the CJ5 doesn't.

However, if you can find a hardtop from a 53 or later m38a1, I've been told that they will fit.

 

Cloth tops are made to fit 55-75 but not sure on hard tops.

 

Hard tops for '55-75 CJ-5s will fit from '55 through '75, and all M38A1.

If this is a top for a M38 and not a M38A1 then no, it will not fit. There's a big difference between a M38 and a M38A1.

 

Yes it will. I have 64 and a hard top from a 55 M38A1 and it fits fine.

 

But he sez the top is off a m38, not the A1.
