    my VIN

    Hi, I have 57548-82056 which shows to be a 58 model but this thing was sold to me as a 46 and does have the 4 cyl flathead. It does have cj5 type fenders. I suspect that a cj5 body was put on a cj2a chassis but am not sure. Thanks

    My serial # is 8505 10443

    It is suppose to be a DJ model but all the DJ model I have found are right hand drive and only two wheel drive, mine is left hand drive and has four wheel drive. So do I call it a DJ or a CJ?

    my paint code is 226(president's red) and 221 (black) trim

    In your case I would post a picture in the technical forum so the folks here can help id what you really have. There were DJ's in both right and left hand drive variants. VIN #'s and tags get swapped on these things over the years in a lot of cases.

    I have this guy trying to sell me what he says is an M38A1, with a VIN that reads 57548 129676. It does not have the round indention by the passenger fender (not sure what that is), but it does have a split window (not a cut out). Maybe someone can tell me if this is military or civilian jeep?

    Re: 66 cj5?

    Welcome from Minnesota. Sounds like quite a score!

    Vin indicates:

    CJ5
    Model year 1968.
    Originally equiped with emmisions control (smog)

    That's about all the VIN is going to give you.

    Welcome and sounds like you have something there for $50.00. Where are you located and did you get any pic's out in the field or before you took it apart? For pic's you need to join a photo host like photobucket and copy and paste it here.

    Hello, Can anyone help me with a build month ?
    It's titled as a 1969 and from what I have found,
    It was Canadian built with the V6 and emissions.
    Emissions on a 1969 ??? Does this mean it was destined as a California Jeep ?
    Why emissions on a Canadian Jeep ?
    83 = Universal CJ-5
    05 = Open Body
    C = Canadian Built
    1 = Left Hand Drive
    7 = V6-225 with Emission

    Pretty sure many of the Jeeps assembled in Canada were built to export to the US. Your Jeep is a 1969 model year vehicle, but build dates for the 1969's is still a bit sketchy. It's a little bit later in the build year so I would probably guess around May 1968, but that's just a guess. Sorry I can't help more.

    The vin document is not complete for the CJ6A. Please see your other post for info about your Jeep.
