When we did most of the work on our CJ5 back in the mid to late 90's we added power steering from a CJ7 and a non tilt column. As a pretty good sized fella( and I don't mean just tall) does anyone here think it would be worth it to go from a regular non-tilt to a tilt just for the comfort. From my standpoint it seems like it would be a pretty easy swap, I am just curious if it is actually gonna be a noticeable difference room wise to justify the cost. Anyone done this?

Yes, the tilt column makes a lot of difference. Speaking from one fluffy guy to another.

My column both tilts, and extend/retracts.

    Out of an old Caddy.

You wouldn't happen to remember what year model would you???

Was it a direct bolt up or did you have to modify a bunch of stuff?

36" Caddy tilt/telescopic from 73 to about 84 work really well. A lot of em are goofy cream or green colors so you will probably need to paint it. Very nice alteration.

This may have just went on the "possible modifications" to the jeep. The wife even likes the idea....

Olds probably used to same ones as the caddy's-another source. A buddy of mine put one in his Willys wagon. Not cream or green, just a nice baby blue (yeh-needs paint).
