    Thanks for contributing.

You might want to start a new thread with your question ragarding if your Jeep is a Renegade I. It sounds like it from your description, but it is often times dificult to know for sure as it was not shown in the VIN. A list of items included in the Renegade I / II packages is here:

    http://www.earlycj5.com/history/the-462-renegade-i-and-ii-cj-5s/

Do you have a paint / trim tag on the firewall?

    VIN # help

Hello everyone. I am brand new to this site, and hoping somebody has an idea what year my newest aquisition to our farm is. I traded a tractor for this old cj5 with a super nice hydraulic snowplow setup for our drive ways. I was told it is a 1960. It has not been on the road since 1994. The tag on the firewall shows # 5754886113. It seems that one number is missing, as I cannot find a listing on the internet with anything near these numbers. I want to get Farm Vehicle plates for it. I am in snowy western NY, snowbelt area. Any help would be great Thanks in advance. Curley
I would submit a picture of the jeep, but I am not sure how.

I see it as a 59. You should be able to find another vin on the top of the frame about at the rear spring hanger area passenger side. Might be another on same side at rear of frame. The front one should be visible by sticking your head inside the fender area.

    10. Underseat or rear mounted fuel tank? Under seat
    11. Hood mounted reflectors, front fender mounted markers, no markers / hood reflectors? no reflectors

Have you tried to decode the VIN with the PDF in this thread? They're pretty simple. :)

I have what is supposed to be a 1965 Tuxedo Park Mark IV. Although the first four numbers indicate a Tux (8322), the sequential numbers (14113) indicate a much earlier Jeep according to the VIN tables in the pdf file unless the Tux's were different.

The frame numbers are hard to read but appear to be 00714113. Any idea's on this? And yes, I have looked at the pdf file.

Re: !! See this thread for VIN questions !!

I have recently purchased what I believe is a 1965 CJ 5. After researching this forum, it seems to be numbered a little different. The serial number tag on the firewall is Kaiser and the number is 8405 26970. The serial number above the right front spring hanger is 26970. The engine number on the block at the water pump is 4J389233.

The wheel base is 81.5" and the windshield frame is 59" wide. It has a Hurricane F 134 engine, 3 speed transmission, dual stick range and 4x4 selector and a pto driven Koenig winch on the front.

My understanding is that 8405 indicates CJ6, which is a longer wheel base than a CJ5. Am I missing something?

    Thanks!

Re: !! See this thread for VIN questions !!

I bought my Jeep cheap no title. I was told the jeep was around 64. After some research I found it to be around 1969. The vin plate under the hood reads Kaiser 83050152619988 which I verified it with the frame vin. I think the last solid Vin recorded was Jun 67 with SN: 233064. I added 20,000 to each year and I think my jeep is a 69. I don't think it's a 1970 because it has Kaiser written on the plate. AMC bought out Kaiser at the end of 69 of early 70. Did Kaiser name run for a time after it was bought out by AMC? My goal is to find out what is the true year of my Jeep so I can request the appropriate title and restore it to factory "Museum standard". Thanks for your time, Brian

    Thanks Zoomer,
I checked the plates on my 56 Willys CJ5 last night and wrote them down seeing the info. you gave is great. On my serial number I thought there was a five (barely readable) before the numbers I could read and your info. confirmed it.

I thought the purchase was Feb. of 1970? I don't have time to check right now though.

the Kaiser name remained on the vin plates at least until Feb 70, but I thought the buyout was in late 69.

your vin is a spring or summer 69 build
