Somebody has installed in his flattie or cj5 an electrical heater that works great?

I have one installed that runs with de engine cooling but the heater's radiator has a pore and loses the coolant and also my perkins engine runs cold at winter and doesn't warm enough. So I'm thinking on install one electric.

some ideas? where can I find one of these? how much they are?

To get any kind of useful output from an electric heater, it would more than likely overwhelm the stock alternator(generator)/battery system. That is why you don't see many (any) of them. It would take a massive upgrade to run one large enough to produce sufficient BTU.

In the US, I have seen many folks who run diesel engines place a baffle or piece of cardboard over the front of the radiator to get the engine to heat up properly in the winter. I think your best bet would be to fix/replace the current one or replace with a larger one that transfers heat from the coolant, and cover part of the radiator if necessary.

No matter what, you're leaking coolant until you fix or bypass the thing. You may as well do it right.

Im upgrading my cj3b to a 81 Amc 360 so my battery system is a 100 Amps.. Im going to use this heater from 4WD ,, it hooks up to the heating systems on the 360,, Looks small anough to fit where the old heating system was (long gone before I got the body) ,,, Little pricey but Im in the Mtns of Maryland & it gets cold here too...Mine will be my daily driver....

There seems to be something hinky about thier numbers for that heater, they claim 28,000 BTU/hr, according to my conversion program (Convert) that's equivalent to 8200 watts power draw which at a nominal running battery voltage of 14.5 volts would be 565 amps draw.
(Anyone want to check my math on this?)

You may need a slightly larger alternator

The only thing I see wrong with it is where the heater runs off the car coolent and not electricity? (well, electrictiy for the fan)
I don't know if I just don't know how watts and stuff works?

But also keeping with the idea of how it's diesel and doesn't warm up fast, like someone mentioned put a piece of cardboard in between the radiator and grill, or, if you get really fancy...

Consider finding or making some shutters for the front
I'd also say maybe ditch the mechanical fan and go electric as well?

Thank you guys for your replies and advices. I'm interested to swap to a 100% electric heater because I have a 130 Amps. battery and 95 amps. alternator, but the few I have found are expensive, big and not enough powerful (1200 wats)... so I must desist.

Thanks for the links, I have been looking them and they are good stuff. I will send them an e-mail for information about the over seas cost.

Yes Summit sends parts over seas and also has a Spanish translator to facilitate the orders; and good prices.

Here around we also use to put "something" between the radiator and grill. I'm thinking to put a thermostat for winter and what i have now for the rest of year.

    Thanks guys!
