Basically any mods made to this trailer will have to be bolt-on, as I do not want to destroy this trailer in any way. It is in VERY good condition for a M416 as usually they are cut or destroyed in some way, whether it be a crunched floor or sides, or missing parts. Mine is only missing the lunette and blackout lights.

The first thing after the top bows and tarp it will be receiving is a kayak rack, but I plan on making a cross bar system capable of holding a trailer top tent of some sort. I do not want to spend $1k so I may make my own out of canvas and a hard roof of some kind.

    Here are the initial pictures...

I forgot to take pics of the top bows, but they are PVC and I got the Idea from Boyink.

Here are the pics of the canvas top though.

I actually like the look of the domed canvas, I wonder if I could fiberglass over the canvas to make a lid in some way?

Going to see if I can squeeze 2 bikes in between the Kayaks front to back. then make a cover to fit over all of it with an EMT conduit framework.

What do you think about the use of " mini van" strap on bike carriers used over each side of the trailer fenders?

Not sure what your saying, but kayaks are supposed to be carried on their side if possible as to not mess up the shape of the hull on the bottom. For the trip today I only had to take them a couple miles so I used a strap bow and stern on both, as well as tied them together and a motorcycle strap across the middle to hold them down.

What about vertical stackers? Should not be that expensive. Those J racks are outragous.

I need the J racks so the boats can be separated, want to try to put 2 bikes down the middle. Going to be patient and hope to score some cheap used ones on fleabay.

Just threw the tarp on it... with the load bars and it fits :woot: Put on a good tongue lock too....

I have the J-bars, just have to fab the racks to get the kayaks above the tent now.

    Some more trailer porn...

Here are some pictures and video, it works very well!

A couple more pictures, the switch for the lift is not what I wanted, or really where I wanted it, but it was the only real place I could put it. If I find a metal one that will do what I want I will replace it. I ordered the actual switch for the actuators, but it was flimsy and less weatherproof than this one. This one was purchased in a pinch locally.

Now to remove the actuators so I can paint the brackets they are attached to and the welds.

and a video showing a full up/down cycle.

I wanted to add a safety to the lift so a kid or someone else with busy fingers won't burn up the actuators with the safety pins in place.

Cool. Steel lid is what is was talking about. Almost looks like the top section of another 416 with a "floor" welded across it.

It was scratch built, though some places make them pre fabbed.

We welded brackets on in the end. They are all easily ground off though if someone wanted to restore it.

With the side shelves and racks it's really useful now even if you unbolt the lid.

Looking at prices of expo trailers though it's likely far more valuable like this. Anything similar to buy new is over 14k. I'm confident I could sell this around 7-8k as is if I wanted.

I made my j-racks for my kayak trailer using 1/2" black iron water pipe and a harbor freight pipe bender (poop pipe discombobulator). Covered them with pool noodles. Worked great, for cheap. I got no pics of the racks, will try and shoot some next time I'm at the shop.

Edit...nevermind....saw that portion of the build was a few months ago. Didn't read far enough...sorry.
