My brother has a 64 CJ6 which is in the need of restoration that I am looking at. It has the F134 engine and a T90 transmission. If I add a overdrive, what could I expect for top speed. I would like to be able to cruise in the 60 to 65 mph range to keep up with traffic.

    Thanks

The engine speed won't be a problem. If the engine is in good condition, there will be no danger to the engine if you can get going that fast.

The question is whether you will have enough power to sustain that speed well enough for you to be happy with driving it on the highway. Most vehicles top speed is limited by power, not engine speed, so the aerodynamics and available power will limit you, not the gearing.

I haven't owned one of these, but I have driven them. I'd expect you can go 65 or maybe faster with an overdrive, but maybe not uphill or into a fair headwind.

My 6 came w/ a f head/ T 90 and 4.27 gears, 235/75/15 tires.....it would do 65....but as Tim said not up any incline, and not into a stiff wind.
